## **Lineage and Family**
Hazrat Saeed bin Zaid (RA) belonged to the noble **Adiyy clan** of the **Quraysh** tribe, the same clan as Hazrat Umar ibn al-Khattab (RA). His full name was **Saeed bin Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail al-Qurashi al-Adawi**. His father, **Zaid bin Amr**, was a monotheist even before the advent of Islam and rejected idol worship. He would pray facing the Kaaba and follow the religion of Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
> “Zaid bin Amr bin Nufail used to condemn the people of Makkah for idol worship, and he awaited the coming of a new Prophet.”
> 📚 *Seerah Ibn Hisham, Vol 1*
Saeed was married to **Fatima bint al-Khattab (RA)**, the sister of Hazrat Umar (RA). This relationship further strengthened his spiritual and social connection with the early Muslim community.
---
## **Early Acceptance of Islam**
Hazrat Saeed (RA) was one of the "first ten" to convert to Islam. He accepted Islam at the hands of **Hazrat Abu Bakr Siddiq (RA)**. He remained steadfast despite the severe persecution that early Muslims faced in Makkah.
His wife Fatima bint al-Khattab also accepted Islam. When Hazrat Umar (RA) came to punish her and her husband upon hearing of their conversion, it eventually led to **Hazrat Umar’s acceptance of Islam**, as the Qur'an recitation softened his heart.

## **Participation in Battles**
Even though Hazrat Saeed (RA) was unable to participate in the "Battle of Badr," this was not because he was careless. The Prophet ﷺ had sent him and Talha bin Ubaidullah (RA) on a special reconnaissance mission. Despite not physically fighting in Badr, the Prophet ﷺ included them among the participants of Badr and gave them a share in the booty.
Hadith, Sahih al-Bukhari, 3140 He later took part in many major battles, including **Uhud**, **Khandaq**, **Khaybar**, and **the conquest of Makkah**. He also fought in **Yarmouk**, **Qadisiyyah**, and **other major Islamic conquests** under the caliphs.

## **Simplicity and Piety**
Hazrat Saeed (RA) lived a life of humility and abstention from worldly pleasures. He never desired fame or held high administrative positions. Despite being from a wealthy family, he chose a path of **zuhd (asceticism)** and devotion.
Once, he said: > “I would rather abstain from the world and meet my Lord content than gather wealth and fall into trials.”

## **Justice and Divine Curse of the Oppressor**
A famous incident is recorded in **Sahih Muslim** regarding a woman who falsely accused Hazrat Saeed (RA) of taking her land unjustly. He said:
> “O Allah! If she is lying, then make her blind and let her die on her land.”
The woman later lost her eyesight and fell into a pit in that same land and died.
📚 *Sahih Muslim, Hadith: 1610*
📚 *Musnad Ahmad, Vol 1, Pg 190*
This shows the divine protection that Allah had placed upon him.
